Who are the Commissioners and what is their role?
Most people know about NHS services, such as your local GP, local hospital trusts, community services but not everyone knows the role of the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). CCGs are clinically led statutory NHS bodies responsible for the planning and commissioning of healthcare services for their local area.
To describe our role simply, our job is to ensure we get the best healthcare and health outcomes for our local service users across our local NHS services.
The NHS Northamptonshire CCG commissions healthcare services across Daventry, Northampton, Wellingborough, Kettering, Corby, Rushden and all surrounding areas within the whole of Northamptonshire.
