Weight Control

It goes without saying the best way to control your weight is to eat healthily, enjoy a balanced diet and keep active (subject to a discussion with your GP, midwife or health visitor first).

Over eating during pregnancy can make pregnant women vulnerable to diabetes (known as gestational diabetes), heart disease and increase the risk of complications.

Eating well in pregnancy reduces the risk of your child having heart disease and diabetes later on in life. There has also been some research suggesting that excessive weight gain may lead to baby becoming obese in early childhood.
