We understand that it is extremely important to have your birth partner with you during your preparation for birth, the process of labour and for when your baby is born. Because of this, birth partners are more than welcome to stay overnight in hospitals in Northamptonshire.

Having your birth partner there will provide you with:

  • Crucial support during labour
  • Emotional reassurance
  • Help with settling and feeding the baby
  • Help with any of your needs during your stay.

Guidance for Overnight Stay for Birth Partners

Night Mode

To ensure the safety and comfort of our patients and staff, we have made the necessary adaptations and introduced a ‘code of conduct.’ The code of conduct will be available to view on the ward. Please visit our website to familiarise yourself with these requirements. This will help us to minimise disruption and protect the well-being of all in our care. Thank you for your support. We’re excited to welcome birth partners back overnight.

As a part of night mode, between 10 pm and 6 am, the following must be followed:

  • Keep mobiles and tablets on silent mode.
  • You must use headphones; don’t use loudspeaker.
  • Take video calls in the Family Room.
  • Keep noise to a minimum.
  • Avoid going on and off the ward.
