We're excited to share that The Real Birth Company (TRBC) has launched at Northampton General Hospital (NGH) as of 12 December 2024. This is a great step forward in helping people feel more prepared for birth.
As part of this new service, eight midwives and two maternity support workers have completed special training with TRBC. This means they can now offer in-person antenatal classes, which work alongside TRBC’s easy-to-use online resources, available in nine different languages.
To give even more support to families, another 10 staff members will take part in a one-day "Birth Choices" workshop. This workshop will run every year to help staff stay up to date and confident in supporting parents-to-be.
TRBC’s programme includes 11 helpful modules to guide people through pregnancy and birth. From January 2025, the programme will offer more languages and new topics like:

Gestational diabetes

Teenage pregnancy

Sickle cell care
It will also include new full modules on: -
Being induced (starting labour medically)

Pelvic health

Planning a home birth
This partnership means NGH can offer even better, more inclusive care for all families in our community. Languages available include Urdu, Polish, Arabic, and Romanian. More languages will be available soon such as BSL.
